THE PAKISTANI MEDIA

Media is the main mean of mass communication these days. A common man accesses the world before him through media. This world includes politics, education, economy and much more of a country as well as the international system.

Starting from the Pakistani local dramas. How do they portray our culture? Obviously through the message they convey. No doubt, they address social issues like in the dramas "Udari, Ruswai, Damsa" and many more, which is really appreciable of them. At the same time they show our living dishonorably in some dramas. They dispatch the image of university and public offices bluntly. This affects the mindset of a common man in a way that he refuses to send his children, more specifically daughters, to such institutes which affects the country eventually. Most of our dramas show upper class which is not so in Pakistan because more than 40%  of our public is even below the poverty line. The language, the dressing and living are not represented as Pakistani but more tilted towards Western world.

Furthermore, most of our news channels are not neutral, they show what they are paid to show. News are watched by most of the citizens, it influences their opinions. If they themselves show "scripted material", a common man will never have clear views of his politicians and government due to which he will remain in the fog until he himself searches and investigates truth, which is not so common. Consequently, it affects country's system because Pakistan is a democracy and public opinion is the pivot for the development of country. Our media also has a very grave issue of defaming their own country to the international world. Every country has problems and gaps but that are not necessarily show cased to the world. If we look to the recent issue of PIA we will see that show casing the issue to the world has damaged our country's economy. There are always spaces for correction but correction is never carried out by exposition of issue to the entire world. This will affect not only the culprits but also the innocent ones_ who have pushed very hard to achieve their positions. Every issue need not to be exposed because the consequences of that are long lasting. No doubt, our media has full freedom of expression but they have shaped the freedom of expression to the freedom of disgrace and dishonour.
